This past July the Vineland City Council adopted a resolution to take away health benefits from part-time elected and appointed municipal officials starting September 1, resulting in $90,000 in savings per year for the city. The Vineland resolution comes in the wake of a presentation by Citizens’ Campaign Cumberland County Chairman and Vineland resident Lee Burke to the city Administration who embraced the measure.

Morris County to host volunteer summit By Michael Daigle Friday June 25th, 2010 Daily Record.com
Morris County will host a session in the fall to introduce residents who are interested in volunteering for a county board or commission and agency, Freeholder John Murphy said Wednesday. The session is part of a statewide effort to spark higher levels of volunteerism and interest in government, Murphy said. The event will be called Morris County Citizen Service Day, based on a model developed by The Citizen's Campaign, a statewide organization that advocates for greater citizen participation in government.
